The Chepstow Grand Prix Returns for 2016

THE CYCLING stars are back in Wales, and Monmouthshire is once again the chosen venue for two of the events for this summer's British Cycling Elite Series.

The British Cycling Elite Circuit Series, won last year by Jon Mould (One Pro Cycling), will see criterium racing return to seven events over four weeks, with rounds in Otley, Stafford, Beverley, Chepstow, Abergavenny (Wales Open Criterium), Sheffield and the series finale in Colne.

The Chepstow stage of the televised British Cycling Elite Series is taking place on Wednesday 13th July 2016. The Series hits Monmouthshire that evening as riders for the third year take to the exciting Chepstow Grand Prix circuit for the fourth round out of seven of the competition. Riders will take to the roads for an hour and face the tough assent from the start-finish line at the Castle Car Park, up Bridge Street before turning left and then right for another one hundred metres of climbing at the top of the course.

The race proved excellent last summer and put Chepstow truly on the cycling map - and this year is certain to be even better as the competition to win the Elite Series title will be a fierce battle before the riders compete in Abergavenny just two days later.

The 2015 national road series attracted an unprecedented audience with over 440,000 tuning into highlights of the Spring Cup, Grand Prix Series and Elite Circuit Series on British Eurosport, demonstrating the growing appetite of British fans for domestic racing.
